The Old Charges Revisited - Prof. Andrew Prescott


Andrew Prescott studied at Westfield College and Bedford College in the University of London, where he completed a doctoral thesis on the Peasats' Revolt of 1381. He was from 1979-2000 a curator in the Department of Manuscripts at the British Library, where his publications included English Historical Documents (1988), The British Inheritance (2000) and The Benedictional of St Aethelwold (2002). He was the main British Library contact for the Electronic Beowulf project, edited by Kevin Kiernan. Andrew was from 2000-2007 the founding Director of the Centre for Research into Freemasonry at the University of Sheffield.
From 2007-2010, he was Librarian of the University of Wales Lampeter, serving latterly as Pro Vice-Chancellor. In 2010, he took up an appointment as Professor and Director of Research for the Humanities Advanced Technology and Information Institute at the University of Glasgow.
